HUMANIAC

https://thehumaniac.bandcamp.com

As you all know this is a place where I (infrequent as of late…) post Polaroid pictures I’ve taken (mostly). This image is no exception.

However, I’d like to bring your attention to some sweet music made by a friend of mine. Sometime back he asked (or I offered, who remembers these things anyway…) if I had any images suitable for an album cover and I showed one of my favorites. He liked it too. I hope the image does the music justice.

So without further distraction I request you check it out. Click the link. Give it a listen. And buy the album.

Thanks for looking.

Note, the fantastic post production editing of the photo was done by Humaniac. What can’t this guy do?

Knockoff Poet’s Walk

I was fortunate enough to have visited New York in the Before Times. I could not pass up an opportunity to do a Polaroid rendition of Henri Silberman’s famous Poet’s Walk.

Hidden Path

Polaroid OneStep+

Polaroid OneStep+

I love wandering around and stumbling upon hidden paths.

The coloring of the image is the result of walking around in 100 degree heat. For those curios about the results of pictures taken one the opposite end of the spectrum, look no further - Frigid Morning.

But I don’t mind the results. It’s kind of an organic analogue photoshop.

Polaroid Sun

Polaroid Sun

The pictures I typically post here are pictures that I have taken. However, I feel it is worthy, nay, necessary, to visit the archives and see what gems lay hidden. This lovely example of my parents was taken in the the mid 70s. My dad opened a record store and my mom was there helping him. My mom had a green thumb and it is evident here with the third subject in the photo. It’s only fitting it had a name. The haiku on the back of the photo reads:

A fantastic sunset in Astoria, Oregon. No funny business with the coloring of this (or any of my other photos for that matter) photo.

The Pacific Midwest

Polaroid OneStep+

I thought these shots worked as a trio. Got a real Midwest vibe going on. Now, I’ve never been to the Midwest, so there’s that, but it is on my list of places to go - I’ll keep you posted.

These were shot on a particularly cold winter morning (I’m sure the film pack contains useful instructions on optimal temperatures in which the film develops). Be that as it may, I like how they turned out. One of the beautiful things is the organic nature of the medium; the results can be a bit randomn. Often times it does not work, this time I think it did.

The Ocean Breathes Salty

Carefree, strolling along the beach… God I wish.

It’s nice to see the ocean, to be in it’s presence. It helps to put things into perspective.

Lucy in the sky with Vaporwave Aesthetics

I read recently that Vaporwave is dead; I don’t know if that’s true or not. I am still enjoying the sound and the whole the dreamy lo-fi look.

I might have time to pick up a new hobby. I’m sure it’s not too late to jump into the fray… I’ll keep you posted on bandnames.

Going Medieval

Polaroid Sun 660

Polaroid Sun 660

In the before-times I was fortunate enough to have “gone medieval”…

What’s that you say? Going medieval doesn’t mean meandering through the French countryside only to happen upon a vineyard in the middle of a wine tasting festival followed by a leisurely stroll around a medieval monastic hilltop retreat?

I’ve really been enjoying the hazy IPAs lately. I have especially been enjoying whatever the Ex Novo folks are putting out.
